The relationship between society and businesses is critical in understanding people’s points of view when making business decisions. The society we live in today requires us to work daily to make ends meet and has set working hours, which are applied in every working institution making it a normal practice. CITATION Doc17 \l 1033 (Doctor, et al., 2017) Any work done beyond this time is called overtime, and the individual gets compensation. We are born into this system that promotes working in a certain way, which begs the question if work adds any meaning in a person’s life, or it is just a form of punishment for one’s existence.
The Business and Society course puts everything into perspective regarding work and how society has pigeonholed us into categories of what is expected of us. Work distribution creates a situation where some individuals get attractive jobs, whereas others get unappealing jobs. Attractive jobs are few, but the demand is high because of the perks they provide. From the convenience of working hours, huge payday and the less effort one exerts in performing the job; it makes sense to see why people favor working this job. On the other hand, you notice that people tend to shy away from jobs that are deemed less attractive by society because they have unpredictable hours, low wages, and are tiring. The notion that people are made for a certain role or job is preposterous, and people can choose their destiny. However, circumstances force individuals into difficult situations, but it is up to you to make the best of the hand that you are dealt with by life.
The work that an individual does will determine if they are overworked or underworked. Since the attractive jobs are few, the majority consider themselves overworked.
