Impact of the Creative Work of Viviane Sassen and Jessica Walsh on My Practice
Introduction
Inspiration is food for creativity. Each creative artist consciously or subconsciously draws inspiration from one or more sources (Oladumiye, 2018; Chu, 2018). Two legendary names in the world of fine-arts including Viviane Sassen and Jessica Walsh have largely been the center of my attention due to their stunning and appealing contributions that took the art of designing to the next level. This paper contains a few highlights of their works and the way it impacted my practice.
Materials and Processes
The Dutch Artist Viviane Sassen is renowned for his photography as well as artistic use of digital graphic designing tools to make her visuals stand out. She has already conducted several exhibitions and won several awards. Her domain is digital and she uses scissors, mirror, paint, and mostly Photoshop to give shape to her fantastic dreams (Martineau, 2018). An example of the mix of these tools in the creation of a masterpiece is shown as under:

On the other hand, Jessica Walsh mainly focuses on digital tools such as photoshop and illustrator to showcase her class. She also goes through the process of coming up with a brainchild, looking at it from a humorous, yet emotional angle, and creating a masterpiece through their juxtaposition (McKinney, 2018). Her work is also above norms.
I am highly inspired by their use of simple materials to cast a spell. Looking at their work, I learned that material is not everything. It is the idea that constitutes the major part of your worth. I use a digital tool, and am confident, based on insight gleaned from creative art of the said designers, that I can also rise to great heights if I continue to level up my creativity.
Ideas and Concepts
Simple cut-up technique of Vivian Sesson has earned her a huge reputation. She mixes the photographs and her paintings to create emotions. She and Walsh agree that art needs an emotional touch to be felt deeply (Martineau, 2018). Walsh is quoted saying, “I am interested in creating emotionally engaging, concept-driven work that is embodied in beautiful forms (Fold Magazine, 2019).” These ideas also reflect into her art a vivid example of which is shown below:

These ideas and concepts are striking. This shows that creativity and playfulness go hand in hand. From these artists, I have learned that looking at things th...
