The rapid digital revolution has seen growth of several digital communication companies. There is Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, Ask and more. These have provided communication services in computers with the discovery of the internet. They are however faced with challenges. The ups and downs can be analyzed using SWOT analysis. This is strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This analysis focuses on Yahoo and its future.
Yahoo was established as a hobby by David Filo and Jerry Yang, students in Stanford University in 1994 (Funding Universe, ND). It has since developed as a medium for communication, advertisements, access for information and giving information. It had gained strength for being the only way in which people would privately communicate over the internet via mails. For a long time it dominated and monopolized the digital communication sector. The other major strength came from advertising on its platform. This was from the structure in businesses to advertise with companies that have a wider coverage. Yahoo being one of those that had millions of users, businesses saw it as a platform to advertise. This increased the profits as more adverts came to its command.
