Week 7 – Discussion Response
1 The Beaux-Arts style influenced American architecture as it is today, through practice and theory (academe). Basically, this style is characterized by very spacious (if not humongous) and symmetrical infrastructures, which is could easily be perceived as having a classical taste. In theory, these characteristics were propagated throughout the American nation, through the pioneers who first went to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and the universities who have taught these theories in their own classrooms. Some of the examples of these academic institutions who taught these include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania. And, as these theories are put into practice by great architects of our nation, Beaux-Art styles flourished throughout the American soil.
