There are several theoretical and analytical elements Silvia Federici states are missing from Marx’s work. These analytical and theoretical elements include wage illusions and its consequence, partial understanding of reproduction, and presence and absence of gender relations.
Silvia Federici coins the sexual differentiation theory that highlights women’s loss of social power, leading to differentiation in space. Several examples can be given to differentiate the sexual differentiation theory. Women were forbidden from having a job in Mediterranean countries. Additionally, women walking alone on the streets was viewed as an undesirable thing. Similar scenarios were observed in England where women were discouraged from walking in public, visiting their parents so often after being married, and sitting in front of their homes or staying close to windows.
