For the last ten years, India has achieved many monumental changes and this has impacted every part of society. Previously, India has struggled with several issues which include poverty, lack of education and gender discrimination. However, the country has recorded huge achievements in economic development and considerable breakthroughs in comprehensively deepening reform. It is crucial to mention that since 2009, the size of the economy of India has almost materially increased thus becoming one of the largest economies in the world. Additionally, in the last decade, India has had significant changes in its democratic and legal systems and the ideological and cultural construction has also made important progress. This paper examines the changes that have taken place in India in the last decade and also evaluates how the Indians are coping with these changes.
Modernization refers to the process of by which modern scientific knowledge is introduced in the society with the ultimate goal of achieving a better and more satisfactory life. Before modernization in India most of the people especially those living in the rural areas lived in poverty. Most of the people lived below the poverty line and their daily income was less than thirty-three rupees a day. Additionally, before modernization, there was a considerable variation in patterns of income distribution. There was a large gap between the rich and the poor.
