Ravel's Mother Goose Suite Childhood Stories
The was first written in the year 1908. This first time wrote the piece it was for two children he had befriended. He would occasionally tell fairytales to them. There is the emotional background of the stories and the impact that is made by the music in the background. In the first movement, in the background is some slow piano music, which further create a sad mood for the viewers. The creation is quite simplistic however, there is some element of sophistication when it comes to the way that the piece is able to convey delicate and moving scenes. Listening closely, it is easy to note that the music injection into the pieces is precise and with an orchestra feel. It does not give off an element of boring rehashes associated with piano music. It instead gives off piano music that is reimagined with an inspiration of the original music and with a touch of orchestra. This explains why it conveys such a deep feeling of connection to the pieces.
The Little Tom Thumb, is the second movement in the suite, and in this case, the element of sadness is still present. In the background, the music reveals an ungainly rhythm and limping. The music in this case is used to give deeper meaning to the piece. Listening to the music, it is easy to feel its guidance through the piece to reveal meaning and emotion. The rhythm indicates the confusion and sadness associated with getting lost.
