Romanesque architects constructed a lot of different buildings like churches, castles, and cathedrals. The most fundamental buildings were the famous abbey churches, most of which are in use. As seen in St. Sernin Church in Toulouse, France, the Romanesque technique is revealed in the towers, pillars, walls, murals, arches, and openings.
Walls
St. Sernin Church comprises walls that are enormously thick with a few gaps. The walls are also buttressed to reinforce the weight of the church.
Side Aisle
St. Sernin Church has a middle aisle called the nave and two slender side aisles isolated from the nave by a series of square pillars.
Arches and Openings
