A modern world without flight and its correlated technologies is unthinkable. The speed and efficiency that come with air domain reduce time. Hence, a task can be accomplished quickly and with the desired results. From the beginning of the nuclear age, aerospace power has provided an advantageous alternative to offset the upper hand that others might be having. In the Cold War, during its darkest days, the United States of America used its aerospace power prowess to generate two distinct political-military tactics aimed at defeating the advantages that the Soviet military had.
The efficiency and effectiveness of the United States aerospace were also proven towards the end of the cold war when Iraq attacked Kuwait. An alliance led by the United States removed Iraq from Kuwait with a swiftness never witnessed before in contemporary warfare. In the 1990s, aerospace power ended two separate race extermination in the Balkans and won the conflict in Kosovo without combat, which could have resulted in massive loss of life. The aerospace capability in resolute execution compelled the United States to invest heavily in aerospace advancement.
Three technological components connected in the 1990s further led to the worldwide growth and extension of aerospace power. These are the introduction of the World Wide Web, the fast escalation of fiber communications globally, and cyberspace extension. Ironically, US aerospace's industrial base diminished after the Cold War ended. However, Airbus (a European aircraft manufacturer) commenced its rise. At the same time, young engineers wanted to join the rapidly growing information technology industry instead of the aerospace industry.[Foster, H. A., Bell, D.A., Turner, D.R. 2016. American Aerospace Power Choosing to Lead in the Twenty-First Century.]
The post-Cold War era saw the US rivals return to the drawing board. They realized that the US aerospace proved to be a pivotal point in the US, always emerging triumphant. The enormous investment the US had put in aerospace in the 1980s and the first months of the 1990s had proven crucial in the US having a conspicuous advantage in warfare. However, the aerospace technology that the US had invested in is now diminishing in performance both mechanically and technologically because of age. Simultaneously, the competitors of the US are toiling to bring new technology to the aerospace fraternity to gain a significant advantage over the US. A good example is the case of China trying to reduce the influence of the US across the world by spreading its authoritarian system.
In surveys, analysis of the Air Force scheme, military strategy, and procurement repeatedly appear. Every facet of the US Air Force policy and execution is marred by the hefty and authoritarian politics of the twenty-first century. It is momentous to fully comprehend how these murky politics affect the US Air force decision-making and potentially the detrimental effects this could have in the future. It does not matter how forward-thinking the Air Force is, the shady politics will always decide its fate.[Brown, D. J. 2021. Institutional Memory and the US Air Force]
