In “Architectural curvilinearity: The Folded, the Pliant and the Supple” (1992) Greg Lynn argues that there is a need for practicing architects to integrate nomadic thinking in the form of folding. Lynn backs up his, by focusing on the thoughts of Gilles Deleuze, who integrates both old and new forms of architecture, but without eliminating the older forms like in Modernism. Lynn aims to show that folding is a technique that avoids the challenges presented by postmodernists, in order to show that the new generative modeling can also result in new designs. Lynn is writing to architecture theorists who are well versed in philosophy and willing to question the place of architecture in the post-Modernism era.
