During the Second World War, America and Britain faced challenges of abstract expressionism subjecting the people to emotional seriousness. Mr. Colville expresses in details the emotional tranquility in his artwork “Pacific 1967.” The picture demonstrated by the artist ascends into the realms of horror and emotionally switches to the deeper meaning of inhumanity. This thesis, therefore, gives to account the use of Colville’s painting ‘pacific 1967” in defining tranquil rural life and domestic ritual.
Colville demonstrates one of the finest artwork during his time. The compositional setting of the painting reveals a fleshy and vulnerable man positioned at the center of the paint. Dynamically, the scene also pictures a gun placed in free space. The author describes silently the function ability of the gun as, a cold instrument used in termination and violent. It is hard to describe the scene as “peaceful” with these two conflicting weaponry and the muscular man symbol . The concept of the gun and the man seems to torture Colville having witnessed corpses heaped in the concentration camp at Belsen. In such scenarios, the disturbing scene as witnessed by Colville is traumatizing to the human race.
