The Pros and Cons of Cyberscope
Cyberscope is an application that is web-based that has been mandated to offer efficient and secure federal agencies FISMA reporting by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). One of the merits of Cyberscope is the enhancement of the security of the documents presented by the various agencies. The federal network security has improved as a result of the utilization of the Cyberscope that allows data protection (Homeland Security, 2010).
Additionally, the automated reporting systems enable real-time presentation of reports that has contributed to saving time and the reduction of costs by the agencies. Previously, the use of spreadsheets resulted in many documents being published when it was already outdated. Also, Cyberscope has made it possible to streamline and continuously assess the reports.
The demerit of the use of the application is the focus on measuring compliance in comparison to agencies utilizing it for continuous monitoring that can help in diagnosis and mitigation.
