How can UPS's experience with GIS be applied in an emergency management environment? What specific UPS capabilities do you believe could be re-purposed for emergency management? How the counter-graffiti smart phone application could be re-purposed for emergency management. Also, how could UPS's solution be combined with the new crime-mapping solutions to enable even GREATER functionality? And, how could that functionality enable the mission sets of federal-level law enforcement like FBI, EPA and IRS? UPS uses GIS tools for mapping or tracking, while this is applicable in emergency management, since up to date information facilitates coordination of emergency services. The GIS technologies are useful in analysis of information, which is then disseminated to the response team (Holdeman, 2014). UPS relies on mapping solutions and technology to track and trace the shipment up to delivery (Dempey, 2007). The tracking capability can be repurposed to determine changes and access to different locations, with information provided when required to improve efficiency before and during emergency response (Prizzia, 2009). People can take images through the Smartphone, which are then sent to a database where the images can be accessed by other users. Users in turn wait for interpretation of the images applicable for emergency management, with information where the image was taken and the time.
