 Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) needed to improve communication accuracy and speed to enhance collaboration between the head office and the various dealerships. IAL is a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited (Japan) and focuses on distribution, marketing and supporting Isuzu Trucks Australia, and the company depends on the national dealer network for the retail and distribution of the trucks (Bidgoli, 2014). As such, integrating the collaboration technologies was adopted to transform the communication process in the dealer network as there was seamless communication with low risk of errors compared to the manual system.  Using the new technology tools helped in the accuracy of internal communication, improving business operations, instant messaging, publishing information, cost savings and more efficient communication (Bidgoli, 2014). 
IAL chose IBM WebSphere Portal and Workplace Web Content Management (WCM) as the online portal and content management system to replace the inefficient and time-consuming manual system (Bidgoli, 2014). Since the system was implemented in 2006, it allowed instant message and collaboration on decisions and the employee could publish information.  To further improve the IBM WebSphere Portal, the Lotus collaboration tools were used to facilitate better communication between Isuzu and the dealer network, where the dealers now log on to the portals to get the updated information (Bidgoli, 2014).  The collaborative components of WebSphere Portal and WCM met IAL’s needs as the company already used Lotus Notes and were scalable as desired by the company.  The platforms are also associated with solution design and requirements clarification. 
 The use of wiki technology in Lotus Quickr is meant to improve information sharing, where the wikis generate many views each day, and IBM developed the tools to manage the large information flow and help increase efficiency (Bidgoli, 2014).
