Essay: Nominate an Organization with Superior Ethical Practices and Transparent Communications

Your essay will respond to the following prompt:

I nominate ______________________ (name of organization) as being superior in its ethical practices and transparent communications with important stakeholders.

The essay will combine your own personal beliefs with an objective assessment of the organization. Choose an organization that inspires you, one where you believe you can make a compelling case for the nomination.

Along these lines, you must provide solid back-up for your nomination. Why do you feel the way you do? What evidence can you cite that demonstrates the organization’s solid ethics and transparent communications?

Requirements:

-          Must keep a weekly journal. I will provide prompts for you to jot down your thoughts. The journal itself is not graded, and I will not be reviewing it. However, you must draw from at least three of your journal entries in your nomination essay.

-          The essay must be at least 1500 words long.

-          You must cite and reference (using APA style) at least one information source from the course and one you find on your own. The sources will provide findings or ideas that back up a point that you are making in your nomination essay

-          Before you submit your nomination essay, you will have a fellow classmate review it. The basic question they will answer is, “Did the nomination persuade me? Do I believe this is an ethical organization with transparent communications?”

-          At the end of the essay, you will include a brief note (2-4 sentences) that describes the feedback you received from the peer reviewer.

Timeline:

Weeks 1-2          Choose the organization you will nominate

Weeks 3-4           Perform your research on the organization and find examples that demonstrate they have strong ethical practices and transparent communications

Week 5                 Write your essay and submit to your assigned partner for peer review

Week 6                 Revise based on partner feedback and submit by Wednesday
