Essay Instructions:

For the Module 2 SLP assignment, you will continue making journal entries about applying the background material to your workplace environment.
In this SLP assignment, the focus is motivation. During this module, your journal entries should focus on how the management where you works motivates workers. You could, for example, notice management applying Theory X or Theory Y in their motivation strategies. Or, you might consider whether management focuses on Maslow’s lower order or higher order needs. See if there are instances of effective and ineffective motivation for which you can make a brief journal entry.
As in the Module 1 SLP assignment, each of your journal entries should be a paragraph or so in length, and you should make 4 or 5 journal entries over the course of the module.
Before you submit your journal entries, review what you have written and add in-text citations from the background material as appropriate. Also include a reference page at the end of your paper that gives the references that correspond to the in-text citations that you have used. For completeness, don’t forget to add a title page.
Be sure to review your TurnItIn Originality report. If the score is over 20%, you may not be writing in your own words and you will need to contact your professor and arrange to revise and resubmit your assignment.

Motivation at My Organization
My organization offers different rewards and level points for employees achieving their daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly targets. I am glad that my organization understands that work-life balance is important and gives us space to work the way we want (Peck, 2015). For example, it allows telecommuting for new parents who have newborns to take care of at home. Recently, three of my colleagues were also allowed to work from home because their aged parents required more medical attention. Such contracts can be changed and renewed under certain terms and conditions against only one assurance, that an employee will still keep providing quality work.
Herzberg’s Hygiene Factors
At a conference, we discovered that our organization follows the approach suggested in Frederick Herzberg’s two-factor theory. It has provided us all hygiene factors. We are provided with a safe and secure workplace, a meal once a day, tea and coffee (Alanis Business Academy, 2013). It has underlying work policies that we all abide by. Rules and regulations, for all levels of employees are constructed based on those policies. Plus, we have supervisors, who do not just sit back and watch. Rather, they guide us and value our ideas and opinions in group projects.
Herzberg’s Motivating Factors
When a project tends to become successful, we are all given our due appreciation and recognition in terms of commemoration letters, sometimes small ones like chocolates, brownies or a pizza and sometimes a 13th month’s salary, apart from bonuses. We are delegated responsibilities and this helps us grow (Organizational Behavior, 2017). We are offered job rotations as well and allowed to switch departments as well, in some cases.
