Working Women in American Society
“The New Life Cycle of Women’s Employment: Disappearing Humps, Sagging Middles, Expanding Tops” by Claudia Goldin and Joshua Mitchell and “Gender Discrimination in the US Labor Market” by Heidi Hartmann and Jessica Milli discuss crucial issues that can improve the quality of women’s work, life, or career in American society. Labor force participation is a problem that affects many females in the United States of America (USA). Indeed, it decreases among women in their 30s and 40s, which is called the “sagging middle” (Goldin & Mitchell, 2017). Goldin and Mitchell focus on women labor force participation using three customary effects, namely period, life cycle, and cohort.
Another significant issue that affects women in their careers, lives, and work is that they get less pay compared to their male counterparts. They also do around 3/5 of the household work, which is not paid. In addition, females earn less annually.
