Poverty refers to the lack of purchasing power of an individual to acquire the necessities like clothing, food, and shelter. Absolute poverty occurs due to the inability to obtain enough resources to support a required level of physical health. Secondly, relative poverty is a result of citizens of a nation failing to afford a minimum living standard as determined by the government and afforded by a larger portion of the population (Bartle, 2013). Social inequality in the society is due to uneven distribution of opportunities to the diverse social groups within the community.
