The Sioux Indian Tribe Culture
The Sioux, also known as the Lakota or Dakota, in their traditional setting lived a nomadic lifestyle. The men hunted antelopes, buffaloes, and deer for meat. The Sioux men were good at monitoring the migration patterns of the buffaloes and this made it easier for them to hunt. At times men could go on gathering fruits and berries for their families. They also ensured that their families were safe from harm and had enough food to eat. Women on the other hand were responsible for all domestic chores ranging from cooking, looking after children, buildings their homes (the tipis), to making jewels out of bead. The clothing was made from animal skins. Sioux men wore shirts that were primarily made from deerskin while the women covered their bodies with tall dresses made from soft animal skins.
