The Keystone pipeline is an oil pipeline system in the United States that was commissioned in 2010. The Keystone is solely owned by the TransCanada Corporation. The oil pipeline system runs from the western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in Alberta. The pipeline system became well known in the fourth phase, whereby the system attracted a lot of opposition from the environmentalist who believed that it would ruin the climate and fossil fuels. In 2015, President Barrack Obama delayed the project but on 2017 President Donald Trump took action and permitted the completion of the Keystone Pipeline system. The three phases of the Keystone project include Keystone pipeline phase one that was completed in 2010. The keystone Cushing Extension is phase two that was completed in February 2011. The third phase that is the gulf coast extension was completed in January 2014.
In 2011 a lot of protests were held by the United States citizens whose intentions were to persuade President Barrack Obama to block its operation. The environmentalists claimed that the decision Taken would define the legacy of President Obama on climate change.
