Protestant work ethic is a concept based on a combination of theology and sociology, which tries to establish a relationship and interconnection between hardworking the sense of capitalism, and piety. A privilege is the special advantage, immunity or unique kind of treatment accorded to only a distinct group of people or individual. Two types of privilege include male and ablest privilege. Male privilege is essentially founded upon the society’s perception of patriarchy, where male is the dominating gender, hence given the privilege to make decisions .Ableist privilege is based on the society’s belief that decision making should only be done by those people who are ‘complete,’ meaning that, they have perfect eyesight, sober minds, and can walk ably from one point to another.
In any society, marriage ceremony is usually closely associated with the gender roles in the essence that in each, the roles of women and men are clearly defined. Women are taken as second to the men. Residual perspective is the view that welfare should be lifted, if the basic institutions of the society, such as family and the economic system, are working fine (Andrews, 2015).In this manner, the wellbeing of the society was supposed to be the determinant of governmental influence. There was no need for intervention if the situation was standard or much better.
This is in line with social Darwinism which is of the idea that the society can find its way through problems, through developing a coping mechanism. Through Darwinist interpretation, the status quo is supposed to be self-regulating in a manner that the social problems and pleasures offset each other in an almost identical way.
