Introduction
Cities are the most artificial habitat that man has yet lived in. The surrounding of a city is radically distinctive from that of the hunter or a farmer or anyone living outside the city. There are varieties of cities such as suburbs, large and small cities, pleasure resorts, factory towns, and all are different from each other. Cities are not fixed living since they keep on changing. A city is an area where a large number of people live, and it is densely populated. Cities have different systems and government that enhances the providence of transportation and utilities. Those who live on the outskirts of a city are considered to live in a suburb. Such people have to travel to the city for work or any other activity. Metropolis refers to the capital of a country and or a large and densely populated commercial and industrial area.
Analytical approaches to defining a city
Urbanization: This is the process whereby people move from rural areas to urban areas leading to the growth and development of cities and towns. People move to cities due to better social, economic, and political development. Reasons for urbanization include industrialization, commercialization, employment opportunities, better social services, and benefits many others.
Urbanism: This is the study of how urban areas population interact with the built surrounding. These urban areas consist of towns and cities. It entails urban planning, which focuses on the management of structures in urban areas, urban sociology, and the physical design of the metropolitan regions....
