Social Networking and Employment
Ever since the increase in quality of social sites such as, Twitter and Facebook, scholars have spent a lot of time studying potential risks such sites pose to businesses. Apparently, these matters have continued to affect employers and are not likely to vanish any time soon. According to survey, a surprising 26% of individuals regularly spend more than an hour a day at work on social sites on issues unrelated to their jobs. Likewise, 43% of employers also accept that information technology observed on social sites had made them not to hire specific candidate (Ferachi, 2011).
The initiatives that employers should establish to turn the situation to their advantage is to establish a potential public relation team, which will aim to educating the employees the impacts of these social networks.
