Lesson Preparation
The focus was for students to understand cell division and to differentiate the two cell processes – mitosis and meiosis. The goal was for each student to learn and know every stage that takes place in mitosis and meiosis. In addition to this, the students will have hands-on experience by engaging in activities, comparing and contrasting the processes involved in cell division (Echevarría, 2009).
Building Background
The lesson is a continuation of the chapter about cells. From the previous lesson, the students learned about prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Students have also identified and described the critical organelles and its functions found in plants and animals.
