Fracking has positive and negative impacts on the economy and society. This paper holds that the dangers linked to fracking are enormous and by far outweigh the benefits thus it should not be allowed.
One of the key benefits associated with fracking is the fact that it is vital to the economic well-being of the United States. It creates jobs hence improves people's living standards. However, the negative impacts of fracking are colossal. As a process, hydraulic fracturing uses a huge amount of freshwater. The amount of water used is said to be over three times the amount of unpolluted water obtained in the process. Furthermore, freshwater is one of the most important resources that the world has and its overuse for processes that potentially pollute the environment is unjustifiable. It is better to forego oil by making use of other alternative energy sources than risk the life of millions of people by limiting their access to adequate clean water.
