Traditional theories of work motivation are reviewed, the model is presented, and used to link sources of motivation to organizational inducement systems.

Self-concept model of motivation is developed from self-concept aspects that include skills, trait, and behaviors of an individual. Besides, it embraces self-esteem, perceived self, the ideal self and the social identities. When motivating a person in an organization, it is essential to understand the relationship of self-concept with energizing a person, sustaining an ethically required behavior and directing an individual. Self-concept model of motivation henceforth integrates role identity and self-evaluation to enhance the motivation of a person through improvement of self-esteem, positive self-perception, the realization of ideal self and social identity.
Self-esteem as a component of self-concept model entails emotional experience of a person. In an organization, employees should value and approve themselves by having a positive view. Employees with high self-esteem exhibit confidence and are optimistic. Therefore, the employees have a positive attitude towards workmates and the job itself. To motivate people in an organization, individuals should engage others through teamwork while managers should mold their employees by allocating responsibilities, give them awards and appreciate the workers as well as give positive feedback to the employees (Leonard, Beauvais & Scholl, 1995).
Separately, a person uses self-ideal to anticipate or wish for the future times. Everybody has a vision and expect progress positively. Therefore, such a person has some competencies and skills or values he or she desires to posses in future. To enhance the motivation of a person, an employer should engage with employees and promote an interactive atmosphere such as enabling the employees to interact with their families and co-workers. Such interactions enhance positive feedback from the reference groups (Leonard, Beauvais & Scholl, 1995).
