Decision to protect embassy and border
There have been sporadic border skirmishes since May 10, but the incidents increasingly appear to be well organized. There is a need to protect the border and avoid beaches, as this would affect the national security of Zootonia. Failure to secure the border would show vulnerability and Burberry would likely launch more frequent attacks. There is concern that the L’s are procuring AK 47’s and heavy artillery that are transported through the porous borders. This is a concern as it indicates the growing sophistication and organization ability of our adversaries. Even though, skirmishes along the border were rare in the past, they now have the potential to destabilize the surrounding areas and pose a security risk.
Greater investment in border protection cannot be ignored if a country is to improve her security situation. (Li & Vashchilko, 2014) It is not possible to identify all the people crossing the border. With increasing attacks along the border, it is likely that the PLL, activists and radicals are planning larger attacks. Zootonia has been represented as the aggressors and PLL may use border attacks to escalate tension. On May 16 there was a car with explosives trying to get close to the border checkpoint, and this is one of the incidents that indicated the challenges of securing the border. Border control affects conflicts since the risk of violence will likely spread when there is no effective management to monitor the flow of people and cargo.
Following the confrontations and suspicion that the PLL are planning to attack areas being guarded and blame Zootonia, it is necessary to protect the border and the embassy. There is suspicion that PLL supporters are likely to organize more attacks on the embassy, as some photos of the building were seized from L’s who loitered around the building. Additionally, there were protests outside the embassy, which have grown in size and seem to be better organized. The embassy represents the diplomatic mission, where the personnel implement the foreign policies and seek to protect the interest of Zootonia.
On 5/10/16 the local police seized AK 47’s heading towards south of the embassy, and the cargo had been disguised while the culprits claimed innocence and no knowledge of the goods. The local police are easily corruptible, and they may allow attackers to bypass security if they receive bribes. To further highlight the need for revamped security is that local Ls were found loitering around the area.
