The "Simply Scenario" is as follows:
Brian obtained a protection order against his same-sex abuser, Tom. The provisions of the court order require that Tom must refrain from abusing, threatening, or attempting to harm Brian in any way. Further, Tom is ordered not to contact Brian or come near his residence. Brian decided to move to another state in order to start a new life without fear. He has learned that Tom is looking for him and he wonders what to do. In the state where he now lives, same-sex partners are not eligible to obtain protection orders.
6. Explain other reasons why intimate partner abuse in the LGBT community may not be acknowledged by victims.

Domestic abuse has become a significant threat to the society, and it is not only present among opposite-sex relationships but also among same-sex couples. However, the topic of domestic violence among gays or lesbians is often ignored both in the establishment of social welfare services and research reports. According to Andrew Frankland and Jac Brown, more than 14,000 cases of domestic violence among gays and lesbians are reported every year. Alone in the United States, the trend of injuring or torturing life partners has become common, and there are many examples of abuse among same-sex couples (Frankland & Brown, 2013).
In the documentary titled Blindsided, it has been shown that her life partner gives a blind-and-deaf lesbian artist tough times. It took Lisa Olivieri eight years to shoot those intimate, real-life scenes, and several still photos and home videos were also added to the documentary. In the second documentary titled LGBT Domestic Violence Awareness, it has been shown how an abusive boyfriend takes advantage of his partner’s kindness and politeness, creating a mess for him all the time (Despodova & Jeglic, 2013).
Law enforcement and government agencies have revealed that domestic abuse is one of the major public health issues and that it is more common in the LGBT community than any other community. Partners of the same sex often get engaged in behaviors that are both mentally and physically harmful, and the victims are said to have no option but tolerating all this since the society had already refused to accept their relationship. Adam M. Messinger claims that domestic violence among gays and lesbians can occur at any point in life. Unfortunately, the victims of such abuses do not receive significant media and public attention, as well as help from the social welfare organizations (Messinger, 2018).
