Public health remains a key concern in various developing countries especially in Africa and Latin America. With $10,000 my focus would be in Hawaii; this is because of its vulnerability to natural disasters such as hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, flash flooding, and the tsunamis. Indeed with such disasters looming a major awareness should be focused on how residents should remain upbeat about their health to contain and reduce the spread health risks; but more attention should be focused on the children with special needs.
The recent tsunami and the flash flooding that occurred in Hawaii acted as a great lesson to public health officers on the need for good drainage, as the poor drainage led to rampant spread of cholera that caused many deaths. However, children with special needs remains marginalized and left out in aspects of health. They include the children with chronic illnesses and long term health conditions as they have need of specialized care.
