Organizational climate can be defined as the unique features and characteristics that are perceived by workers about their companies (Howard, 1992). Perception plays a significant role in influencing employees’ behavior. Each company has a unique organizational climate depending on the understanding of its workers (Moreno, 2015). Human resource managers and senior consultants structure some organizational questions to examine the type of organizational climate in their firms. Organizational climates is divided into various dimensions, which include task-oriented, people-oriented, rule-oriented, and innovation-oriented (Moreno, 2015).
Do you know the organization's goals, mission, and objectives?
Do you believe the products and services that the company offer are essential to the society?
Are workers involved in the decision-making process in this firm?
Do you believe that your participation in the organization contributes to the achievement of goals?
Do you believe that the time you use to work for the organization is enough to fulfill your duties, obligations, and goals?
Do the organization workers have good relationships with each other?
Does the company create a pleasant working environment for you to achieve your personal and company goals?
Are your coworkers always willing to help each other and share their knowledge?
Do you wish to be assigned with more senior duties in this organization?
When you have finished your daily workload, do you feel fulfilled professionally when you get home?
I would locate these organizational questions to a junior employee in a particular organization. I prefer a junior employee since they can be more sincere compared to a line manager or any senior employee. A senior employee may tend to give biased information since he can be tempted to protect the company.
Getting responses from the structured questions would create an understanding of the type of organizational climate in the firm (Indeed Career Guide, 2019). Most of the questions try to examine the goals of the organization and the efforts made to achieve them. For example, the first questions ask the employee whether he understands the goals and objectives of the company (Moreno, 2015). If the worker answers correctly, it would mean that they know them and work hard toward achieving them. Secondly, the questions try to examine the employee relationship (Indeed Career Guide, 2019). Hence, the organizational climate which will be created from the response of these structured questions will be the goal or result-oriented climate and people-oriented climate.
