Siddhartha Gautama’s teachings at the Deer Park in India twenty-five centuries ago have now spread to every corner of the world influencing every culture it touched. This has resulted into a rich tapestry of customs that seems quite confusing across the world. Though Buddhism, itself is a peace, caring and kindhearted spiritual path. Ground on the fact that it is one of the world’s major faiths some enthusiastic self-determined filmmakers have created movies that have transformed Buddhism beliefs to visual arts. A good example is the flick, ‘Kung Fu Panda 1’ a radiant reflection of Buddha’s teachings (Cobb, 2008). It is also a captivating film with many reflections of Buddhist philosophy and practice. Therefore, this paper attempts to disclose Buddhism spirits in today’s cinematography. Ground on Kung Fu Panda 1 the study illustrates the image of Buddhism including some events and ideas from the religion.
The Nuts and Bolts of Buddhism
The Buddhist religion is guided by principles that help their followers to grow morally and do what is right always. A reflection on the noble 8 fold path reveals the way for any human being to live in order to avoid chaos and trouble not only among the human population but also with other creatures on the world. These principles guide human behavior in society and any action that is taken should be clearly thought out before anything is done. With the proper reflection and thinking then an individual’s action should be in line with the teachings of the Buddhist religions.
Reflection on these teachings, I think if all human beings across the world were to adhere to them then there could be no people who will do evil in the world. The Buddhist religion has it that in order to avoid punishment or negative actions such as sickness then one should adhere to these teachings. I totally agree with the teachings in terms of bringing up a morally upright society who will endeavor to do what is right always, however, I do not agree that cases of ailments are punishment for not adhering to the teachings. However, much these teachings play a great role in bringing up an upright society, some of the punishments provided in the Buddhist believes are beyond human control especially in this century of global health problems. However, also the human population have a role to play in ensuring that these global maladies are addressed through use of appropriate prevention strategies.
Kung Fu Panda 1 and Buddhism
Various Buddhists beliefs and practices have been a subject of cinematic attention since the origin of movies which often signify exoticism (Bridge, 2014). Today majority of filmmakers have found Buddhism to be a stimulating element in flicks. One film that paints application of Buddhism in the movie industry is Kung Fu Panda 1, a flick that conveys itself in the heading. It is unbelievable to see the big and Fuzzy Po performing martial arts and being given the obligation of defending his people from the coming threat (Xian-yan, 2012).
