Industrial hygiene involves identifying, analyzing, and controlling environmental hazards that can affect the health status of employees and the surrounding community (Malony et al., 2016). Thus, occupational hygienists look forward to health and safety issues and come up with preventive solutions. Institutions are liable for the well-being of their team members. As a result, they employ workplace hygienists who can evaluate hazards scientifically and come with substitute solutions to create a favorable environment for employees. Thus, industrial hygienists work to promote public health in industries in the USA. As illustrated by Maloney et al., (2016), the components of industrial hygiene include radiation, noise, ergonomics, biological and chemical hazards, and control of the safety issues. Primary organizations that certify industrial hygienists include the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) (Maloney et al., 2016). NIOSH comes up with new information on occupational safety and healthcare to ensure available knowledge is put into practice by the employees within organizations. Thus, NIOSH carries out research, develops guidance protocols and recommendations that are essential in requesting for health hazard analysis. Under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, NIOSH is accredited to offer information on emerging safety and health issues that are essential for clinical practice and patient care.
