Cybercrime can cause problems at the individual, local, and national levels. For example, an individual might have financial information stolen after using his or her credit card online. A small town might have slanderous information posted on a community website. A nation may experience an aggressive computer virus in government computer systems. No matter what type of cybercrime occurs, law enforcement must investigate and enforce cybercrime laws within their jurisdiction. Still, the global nature of cybercrime can pose challenges for law enforcement agencies.

For this assignment, select one type of cybercrime and consider the impact of that particular cybercrime at the national, local, and individual levels. Then think about challenges law enforcement agencies encounter related to the global nature of cybercrime.

Cybercrime has grown by a double-digit in the recent months and is today one of the four biggest crime threat spread all over the world. It involves frauds, corruption, and asset theft crimes. Cybercrime has taken different forms ranging from less serious to more serious and costly attacks such as hacking. This paper seeks to explore hacking cybercrime, the impacts it has on individuals, organizations and the national levels as well as the general challenges posed by cybercrime on law enforcement.
Hacking is a form of cybercrime in which the perpetrator (hacker) illegally breaks into a computer network or a computer and acquires confidential information about the user or disseminates malicious computer software into the system so that it may corrupt the user's data. There are different types of hackers; white hat, black hat, and hactivist. White hat hackers are security specialists for organizations and break into the system for noble reasons while black hat hackers are criminals who break into the network to vandalize and steal from the user. Hactivist are hackers who hack systems for political mileage through website defacements, information theft, denial-of-service, and redirects.
Hacking is a serious crime that has far-reaching impacts on individual, local organizations and at the national level. Hackers may attack an individual's computer network which may result in account takeover. This occurs in situations where the black hat hackers break into the user's computer and install malicious software on which they can record private information such as passwords and keystrokes. An example of such a malicious program is keyloggers. The hackers can then access the user's programs and websites from which they can log in to various sites such as the online banking and use the password recovered to access the account and send money or do any other nasty thing on the user's bank account. This leads to loss of money and invasion of privacy as the hackers can access any user's information from the computer.
