The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®)
The MBTI provides professionals the tools for helping clients in identifying their natural preferences concerning their personality (The Myers-Briggs Company, 2020). There are three ways on how to become MBTI certified, through on-site certification, public program administration, and online Certification. In the on-site certification, if there are at least 10 participants that want an MTBI certification, the Myers-Briggs company can deliver the certification program on the participant preferred time and location. The participants can request on-site training by completing a request form on the Myers-Briggs company website. In the public program administration, the participant can join a certification program at a specified location and date of the Myers-Briggs company. The Myers-Briggs program location and schedule are listed on the company website. In the online certification, if the participant cannot physically join the certification program because of distance inconvenience, the participant can avail of online training. In registering for both public programs and online certification, an online registration form should be completed 14 business days before the start of the chosen schedule (The Myers-Briggs Company, 2020). They did not specify an expiration date on the MBTI certification but they designed an MBTI certification online refresher course if the certified individual wants to have a comprehensive review of the MBTI theory and interpreting results (The Myers-Briggs Company, 2020). This assessment can provide a starting point to know the personal preferences of the client. It can explore the client’s underlying needs, interest, habits, wants and values to help them adjust towards positive change, which is mindful to their client’s feelings since the clients are more comfortable with their preferences when taking part in mentoring and counseling (Passmore, Holloway, & Rawle-Cope, 2010).
