Before you begin this assignment, please note that you are writing a proposal for the Argument Essay and not the Argument Essay Itself. The proposal is designed to give you the opportunity to propose your treatment of the issue related to your career or area of study. The next few assignments are all designed to help you figure out your ultimate argument. These assignments should all focus on the same argument and the same issue related to your career and area of study.
This proposal is your opportunity to consider your plan for tackling the argument. You will need to figure out what about the issue you want to focus your argument on. You cannot possibly cover the whole subject in this coming essay, so plan to write about a specific aspect of that subject.
Your argument will need to be proven throughout the course of your essay. In order to prove your argument, you will need to select specific topics which you will want to highlight in your thesis statement. In this proposal, you will pitch those topics and how you will discuss them.
Instructions:
• Create a two-page proposal for your Argument Essay. The Argument Essay requires that you argue your position on an issue affecting your chosen career path or area of study.
• In at least two paragraphs each, please answer the following three questions. Please begin each section of your argument essay proposal with the question you will be answering.
o What is the issue that your essay will be focusing on within your career path or area of study? Why is this issue important and worth writing an argument essay about? Please explain the issue, demonstrating your complete understanding of the issue.
o What is your ultimate argument regarding the issue? What are the specific topics will you address within the argument essay? How do you plan to address those issues?
o What evidence will you use within your essay? Please be specific here with the type of evidence you want to use and how you intend to use. Will
all your evidence come from Post’s Library? Will you use any additional sources? If so, what kinds of sources?
Proposal of Content:
This proposal is your opportunity to pitch your instructor your plan for the essay. The structure of the Argument Essay should be discussed within the proposal. You also should propose how you intend to gather research for this argument. You do not have to include any research, but you should figure out how you want to incorporate it. You also want to tell the instructor how you plan to structure the essay. Finally, include in the proposal what will make your approach to the argument unique.
Requirements:
• The assignment should be two pages in length and answer the specific questions asked.
• Write it in 12 point Times New Roman font.
• You may use first person in this assignment, but please keep in mind that the argument essay will need to be written in third person.
• Your writing should be free of punctuation, spelling, and grammar errors and contain appropriate word choice for an academic setting with a clear sentence structure.

- The US does not have compulsory military or national service, but all men must register in the selective service system between 18-25 years old. Some countries require young men and women to serve one to two years of compulsory military service. Other countries only require men to serve. Should the US have a similar policy set in place? By having this policy, the military would bring their numbers up and fill every job position needed worldwide which also includes Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This will also open the doors for females to serve in combat roles at a younger age. However, others may argue that the military should be a volunteer commitment because not everyone is fully qualified to serve due to medical issues, criminal records, and other issues that may disqualify them. For some, joining the US military and the department of homeland security could be something good due to the skills they will learn and goals they will accomplish.

The mandatory obligation of military and national service is what the country needs. Service per se entails measures of personal sacrifice to better other peoples' lives. The question of who the service is meant to be provided and owed makes the government of the United States assume that American citizens have a duty and responsibility to tailor their services to the state. The Mandatory Universal National Service (MUNS) proposals maintain that by being born in whichever countries, every person owes one or two years of their life to provide or offer services for free to the state in question (Eniclerico, 2006). Regardless of the rhetoric that embroils the notion of mandatory universal national service, the proposals by MUNS disposes private lives at the discretion of the federal government. The paper below elaborates, giving reasons why I think that men and women need to have two years of mandatory military and national service obligations.

In some countries for instance, in Singapore, mandated universal national service is statutory law in the national policy which requires men and women above eighteen years that are citizens or permanent residents in the country to dedicate a period of between one to two years in offering compulsory services in uniform. This essay focuses on mandated universal national service and whether or not it should be a mandatory phase for men and women to pass through when transitioning from academic life to the job market.
Why is this issue important and worth writing an argument essay about?
At first, mandatory universal national service was instituted to help countries to develop strong military forces following their battles for independence. However, the service has expanded to incorporate civil defiance forces and the police. The issue of compulsory national service is not only significant to the nation, as the government of the United States puts it, but it is also helpful to citizens per se. The service is essential to citizens because it enables them to gain first-hand knowledge and experience of countering attack whenever it occurs. Secondly, the service helps citizens to be patriots to their countries since they spend part of their life on providing free service to it. It also enhances national cohesion since citizens from different parts of a country are brought together to accomplish a common course.
On the other hand, compulsory military and national service obligation help a country to curb terrorism, theft, and all manners of vices. It achieves this by reducing idleness among youths and jobless men and women who are vulnerable to radicalization. Additionally, the service helps the country to earn revenue because the mandatory obligation enables men and women in uniform to offer services which would otherwise need the government to pay for (Bandow, 2019).
