Symbolic interactionism analyzes both constructed and negotiated elements of self and the social life; this is different from the traditional structural features of the society. Symbolic interaction examines the interpretive nature of our social life. It involves a process of making sense of information before taking any action. According to symbolic interactionism principles, humans do not experience the world from objective reality but experience the world as meaningful objects and relations (Appelrouth & Edles, 2008). Self-determined behavior involves stages of examination and deliberation based on the definition of the situation. Individual behavior or his reactions to situations are not automatic. Instead, they are constructed based on the meaning attributed to the situation at that time (Waskul & Vannini, 2013).
