W.E.B. Du Bois’s Theoretical Orientations
Du Bois’s theory focused on race idea viewing oppression in the twentieth century being along the color line. According to Du Bois, the goal of all African Americans was more of advancing Pan –Negroism. He used his experience to present reality of race in the US in the ninetieth century calling for all black Americans to unite and work within their race (Dubois, 2013). Similarly, Charlotte Perkins Gilman talked of oppression but only focused on economic and political factors as being responsible for gender inequality. Both Gilman and Du Bois fought for equality among African –Americans and emphasized the importance of education and equal employment opportunities among men and women (Gilman, 2014).
