Taking care of a loved who is going into the final stages of their life can be very stressful to family members because it is a milestone that needs to be crossed by everyone even the elderly person. There may also be underlying issues in the family that can lead to discontentment. Although, when families forget about their differences 1st and work together, their loved one will feel better being around them. Since there are already difficulties experienced by family members, it is better to find out what they are to arrive at a better response.
The changes that can happen are sometimes unexpected and it can sometimes surprise them because it is sudden. For the family members, this could mean a different type of housing might be needed and also the kind of assistance that will work best for the patient will also be an option. This could both be financially and emotionally stressful for those who will be responsible for it. There is also something called assisted living, but the family has full discretion to decide on what they can do.
The decision is also affected by the patient because there are parents or elderly who resist care because they have several reasons. It could be that they do not want to spend their final days in a senior community and may feel like they are being put away.
