The International Organizations
As an international organization that is tasked with maintaining world peace and enhancing tolerance among nations, the United Nations is indeed a crucial part of the world today. The inception of the organization took place in 1945 after the Second World War with the United States, Britain, China, Russia, and France as its main members. These countries are also served with veto privileges especially with regards to matters of the UN’s Security Council. Since its inception, the UN has been involved in numerous activities that have helped prevent the events that were seen during the 1st and 2nd World Wars. However, this has not been without a fair share of challenges. One major issue that has continued to be a problem for the organization is trying to keep the five original members happy. Aside from this issue, there is also the challenge of resources that continually strains the operations of the organization. Another factor is its collaboration with regional organizations like the African Union, the European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and the League of Arab States among others.
