The article, Residential Schools: The Intergenerational Impacts on Aboriginal Peoples is written by Cheryle Partridge, a scholar and a member of the Aboriginal community whose colonization resulted in stripping of the Aboriginal people their language, connection with the family, and culture. Partridge has done a commendable work in exploring the impact of the Western education to the lives of the Aboriginal community. According to her, the Western education has had negative effects on the Aboriginal people for over four hundred years of contact (Partridge, 2010). The author’s ability to link her life and that of her family together with other author’s perceptions in exploring the impact of the colonialism to the natives increases the credibility of her views on the topic of study. However, her findings and revelations lacked statistical backing that could have shown the reader the severity of her claims.
The article focus on the relationship of residential schools and their intergenerational impacts on Aboriginal Peoples and their mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being (Partridge, 2010).
