The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) exhibit the technological prowess of powerful states in the world in warfare. These gadgets have been prominently used in modern battlefields due to their high effectiveness. The use of these high-flying machines that are remotely piloted is increasing gained awareness in the US and its adversaries CITATION Cam16 \l 1033 (Shonnard, 2016). The urge being the bid to beat the superpower widely recognized for their knowledge and use of the armed drones.
Currently, drones are limited to information gathering and counterinsurgency across borders with great vulnerability to hostile airspace. However, the advancement in technology and the desire for countries to maximize the use of drones, UAV’s faces significant changes. For instance, US and China are using stealth to build drones CITATION Kel16 \l 1033 (Artherton, 2016). This aims at attacking both enemy airplanes and ground munitions. Innovations for the future center at increasing coverage area with reduced cost. An example is Russia’s kites development that requires less fuel and maintenance. Research on UAV such as MQ-9 Reaper, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-1C Sky Warrior and MQ-X in America is intensifying with the support from the president on CIA’s drone usage CITATION And10 \l 1033 (Callam, 2010).
Domestically, advancement of drones would be risky and endanger to citizens due to crashes and failures associated with drone usage. Also, safety threat to the public may occur in the case of counter attacks by adversary states deploying the same mechanism. For instance, Israel, North Korea, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United Kingdom do use UAVs in combat. Nonetheless, it will promote local protection against foreign attacks CITATION Boy13 \l 1033 (Boyle, 2013). Internationally, US will be better equipped than other nations given its current UAV endowment and continual research for advancement. Also, it will be a safer way of engaging in war as drones are self-pilotedCITATION San15 \l 1033 (Sandbrook, 2015). However, the future of UAV holds at stake inter-state conflicts given the intelligent operationalization of UAVs. Thus, increasing warfare incidences caused by drone usage may take place.
