Significant Changes and Potential Effectiveness on War on Terrorism.
The war on terror by The United States has not been a walk in the park; on September 11, 2001 al-Qaeda militants took control of four airlines which crashed on United States key buildings such as World Trade Center and Pentagon. The attack resulted to numerous fatalities and property destruction hence prompting United States to come up with strategies of countering repeat of same attack and stop al-Qaeda operations (Lenain, et al. 2002).
Significant changes between these two assessments.
As noted by Erick, (2016), The United States developed some objectives which were mostly supported by the political administrators; the strategies included protection of Americans and homeland, defeating al-Qaeda and other terror groups and promoting democracy which will help in stemming out extremist activities. However, the objectives have not been achieved. The objective of defeating terrorist group has led to the country spending billions of US dollars to fund military activities; the military operations are carried on Islamic states where the situation has worsened making it easy for extremist group to recruit more followers who feel oppressed by military invasion to their country. On the other hand United States through its operation to tame al-Qaeda operation has succeeded by bringing democracy in country like Iraq which was fighting.
