Gubernatorial Campaign for Jane “Bitzi” Johnson Miller
Student’s Name
Institutional Affiliation
Introduction
Jane Johnson Miller comes from a family that has made a name for itself over the years in Texas politics and the rest of the country as well. Jane is the granddaughter of former governor Johnson Miller who held the gubernatorial seat in Texas between 1945 and 1958. Since her grandfather was a great source of inspiration for Jane and a role model for a great population of Texas, Jane followed in his footsteps to become a conservative Republican. She was born and raised on a huge Texas ranch and attended Carnegie Vanguard High School then later joined the University of Texas where she earned a degree in Political Science. Having earned her educational experience in her state of birth, Jane never lost touch with the people in her hometown and this is a major advantage because she knows what to do in order to reach out to the people of Texas.
Apart from a good education, Jane is also a well-known business woman with quite a number of major real estate development investments in Texas and a bestselling book she wrote while she was still in University. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of an interior decoration company she started with two of her high school friends which has been performing well all over the country. She was recently offered to head the interior decoration of a new skyscraper being built in Washington D.C. Being a successful businesswoman has created a great deal of significant connections needed to create a source of funding for a campaigning candidate like Jane. Just like her grandfather, Jane fights for hope among the Texans, unity and the majesty of Texas. She has quite a strong differing opinion against the liberalist views and strategies of governance.
Cultural and Regional Support
Based on what the Texans believe in, Jane has the potential of being popular within the diverse population of Texas. In North Texas, home to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex dividing East and West Texas, Jane can use her vast knowledge in economics and her experience in development as an approach to the people of this area which is home to national and international companies who have placed their headquarters here. Fort Worth still maintains strong ties to its cowboy past which Jane can relate to due to her childhood in a ranch. By creating a common ground that identifies its similarities with the traditions of the citizens living in North Texas, Jane can communicate better with them because they will be willing to listen. Although the metroplex is home to many democrats, especially in the urban regions, there is also a large number of conservative Republicans such as Jane in the suburban and rural parts of this region (Root, 2014).
In East Texas, there has been a record decline in the cotton industry and the oil industry which have been the backbone of this region’s economy. Timber production, cattle and poultry farming have also been a common practice in these parts of Texas as the region struggles to diversify with an aim of improving its economic status. By promising to revive the cotton and oil industries, Jane can reach out to the members of this region who will gain conf...
