The ideation process is an important component when brainstorming on development of new technology or application. It is important as it facilitate in the achievement of the required specifications. It involves three basic steps namely idea generation, filtering the ideas and validation of the ideas (Robinson, 2009). Google in collaboration with Infineon is the process of developing a new interaction sensor using radar technology. This chip technology project called Project Soli provides a way for people to interact with their smartwatches without touching their displays (Starr, 2015). According to Ivan Poupyrev, the founder of Project Soli, it exhibits a new sensor concept that utilizes manufacturing approaches and physical principles never been used in designing and development of interactive systems (Starr, 2015).
After ideation process, system requirements and system analysis was done after which market analysis was conducted with an aim of determining market feasibility of the new technology. Fact finding techniques such as questionnaires, interviews, observation and recording were used to collect data with an aim of obtaining the system requirements. The acquired requirements were then partitioned into hardware and software system requirements for the established of the overall system architecture (Rosenblatt et al. 2013). This involved identification and description of the fundamental system abstractions and their relationships. After data was collected, qualitative data analysis was used whereby the qualitative data that have been collected was analyzed so as to understand and interpret the situation of the new system.
