Immigrants often suffer from many challenges, especially in regards to employment. Most of them are temporary workers, even though they can spend several years working in a particular role in an organization (Heyboer, 2013). Since they are temporary workers, they do not get paid vacations, have fewer benefits, and with minimal chance of a promotion or pay rise. After various deductions, most immigrant workers get low payment.
The temporary workers have led to the emergence of “temp towns,” which are locations that have a high percentage of temp workers and agencies such as New Brunswick, Union City, and Elizabeth (Heyboer, 2013). Since the temp workers are illegal immigrants, they are easily mistreated by employers through sexual discrimination, no or low pay, poor working conditions, and a system that seeks to explain to them whenever possible. The temp workers often risk deportation if they choose to report the employers to the authorities, so instead, they choose to suffer in silence while working in the factories and warehouses (Heyboer, 2013).
