7-1: I have realized that substance use and alcohol is inherent in every society. Coming from a community where poverty roams, joblessness is high, access to education and health is difficult, individuals seek pleasure in alcohol and drug abuse (Whitbeck, 2014). I live in a black community where drug abuse is a normality. Coming from such a community and having been on drugs makes me agitated at the sight of drug addicts and substance users. I have had colleagues killed and jailed because of drug dealings. Therefore, I despise anything related to alcohol and drug abuse. Drug usage has created a state of hopelessness and despair characterized by crime among drug users. In campus, the same cultural attributes carried by individuals from communities prevail. The drug users strain coping with studies with constant academic warnings. My experience with drugs, community and campus elements contribute to my despiteful attitude towards substance users.
7-2: Some of the considerations to keep in mind for a client from a low socioeconomic population include ethnicity, employment status, education level, income, and the level of acculturation. Hence, I will have to point out the social, cultural and environmental stressors affiliated to the client. I will give the client a summary of the counseling process and get to know his/her opinion on counseling before proceeding CITATIO...
