Ethics is a set of principles and standards that guide professionals' responsibilities, duties and code of conduct. Most professional bodies make and regulate their ethics, though they tend to have the same components. The social scientist ethics are compared to those of the military profession in several ways. The two professions practice integrity at all time in their entire professional activities (Israel & Hay, 2006). In dealing with people, the professionals strive to ensure human rights and diversities are respected hence there is no discrimination. People in both professions are responsible for decisions they make while performing their duties. Professional competence is required in all tasks, and they should only undertake those they are qualified. Public interest and social responsibility in both professions are above private gain (Robinson, Lee, & Carrick, 2008).
