Abortion
Abortion has been one of the most controversial topics for decades. The pro-life movement opposes it and believes that fetuses should be allowed to live. However, the pro-choice side says that mothers should be given the right to decide what happens to their bodies. Roe v. Wade ruling should not be overturned and abortion should be legalized, particularly when saving the life of a mother.
Shlomo Brody talks about the Jews’ perspective on abortion. Jewish law prohibits pro-choice and makes it clear that fetuses have the right to life. The Jewish law prohibits that they ought to take care of their unborn babies until birth. Jews believe that abortion is one of the most significant ways of degrading human dignity. For instance, halacha prohibits different forms of bodily harm, such as self-lacerations, suicide, and tattoos (Brody, 2018). Regardless of the religion of the doctor or patient, performing an abortion is unjustified by the Jewish law.
