In the 1960s and 1970s, the focus of most environmental movements was to resolve some of the pressing issues, such as pollution. In retaliation for the increased number of pollutants, the environmental movements pressured Congress to enact laws to promote clean air and water. Subsequently, in the late 1970s, the movements had increasingly addressed any environmental threats related to the disposal of toxic waste. By preventing pollution and disposal of toxic waste, the environmental movements managed to address various ozone depletion and global warming issues.
