Each week, you will reflect and respond to a set of questions regarding that week’s readings. Your response should be 1.5-2 pages or about 500 words and will be submitted on GauchoSpace.
For this week, consider the following:
Skeptics often claim that we shouldn’t worry about current climate changes because our planet has experienced climatic cycles in the past. Do you think that this true statement about past climate cycles is a reason not to be concerned? Explain.
The Anthropocene is the period during which humans have become a “dominant force” shaping our planet’s environment. Given this week’s Prep materials, do you think Anthropocene is the best term for what we’re doing? Why or why not? If not, then what would be better?

1 The statement about the past climate cycles is false. The climate cycle in the past should be a reason for concern because the global climate today does not follow the natural atmospheric changes that were observed in the past cycles. The global climate was revealed to have a natural climactic cycle based on the trapped atmospheric materials found frozen inside the layers of ice at the polar ice caps. Specifically, the greenhouse molecules such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide served as atmospheric fingerprints that revealed the atmospheric situation of different eras. The abundance of these greenhouse gas are determiners of the global temperature, where the increase of greenhouse gas also increases the temperature. The trapped greenhouse gasses inside the ice caps show a consistent amount throughout the history of the world before the industrial revolution, but ever since the industrial age, greenhouse gasses increased significantly above those levels against the atmospheric condition of the “natural cycle”. If the natural climatic cycle is consistent with the past global climate, the world's temperature should be consistent with the evidence found in the polar ice caps and the Earth should experience global cooling because of the way nature recycles greenhouse gas. However, evidence reports that today's global temperature recorded to be at higher degrees than before. This increase is seen to be related to the alarming increase of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. The people's way of living such as the burning of fossil fuels, neglect of agricultural by-products, deforestation, and mismanagement of waste materials, is observed to significantly increase greenhouse gasses. Even the volcanic explosions are monitored to have fewer levels of greenhouse gasses than those emitted by factories and car engines. This was confirmed by scientists because of carbon dioxide&...
